Green Practices

At Richardson, we take the responsibility we have to be good corporate citizens very seriously, which is why we are committed to environmental sustainability efforts. Not only do we focus on reducing our own carbon footprint through such areas as internal recycling programs and eco-friendly waste management, but also externally, by continuously researching and offering sustainable marketing options to our clients.

Beginning in the early 90s, Richardson took the lead among printers in Greater Kansas City to become alcohol-free in the pressroom as well as significantly reducing VOC emissions.  In addition, the company contracted to have its waste ink placed into clearly labeled, sealed containers and shipped to a concrete plant in Illinois for use as an additive in the fuel blend for its kiln.

Since then, green initiatives have been part of the regular routine here at Richardson.  Plastic drums are saved and recycled, and all paper and plastic waste is collected and recycled. In addition, our facility is inspected annually by the Air Quality Division of the Kansas City Health Department and we are required to report to Missouri’s Department of Natural Resources.

Richardson will continue to go forward as a leader among those companies committed to sustainability with the three key elements of the industry:  the product, the process and the support systems surrounding them.
